I am 5 weeks post op with an Arota Valve replacement done with TAVR. Absolutely no pain at all. I feel great. I am still having shortness of breath when I walk and get dressed. I did gain 20 lbs in this year, and know it could be one of the problems. But I just would like to know how everyone else is doing in the breathing department. I start cardiac rehab on Monday.
Thanks for all the help. Stay healthy.

Hi Bob, I hope your doing well. I have been following your journey. I wanted to tell you that I have Aortic Valve Regurgitation and I have had these "shimmering shapes" vision episodes and I have had them for a while off and on. They come and go and I call them "waterfalls" , not sure if it's the same thing your seeing but with me it's like I'm looking through a glass window when heavy rain pours down from above. And if I turn my head while it happens the waterfall simply moves along with my head as if I was turning a camera lens to pan the shot. I'm guessing blood flow to the optic nerves must be connected to this in some fashion. "Don't Quote Me On That" Just an assumption and I'm surely not an Eye Doctor. It will be something to think about as I have my Aortic Valve Replaced in a couple weeks. I just found it interesting that some of you post op folks have the same kind of visions as I have had for a while pre-op. And yeah I agree with you it is kinda scary. Take Care Bob and Stay Strong!

MARIE PICUN I am in the waiting room, I am having an echogram every six months.
What your describing is a water fall in your eye. I had it. It is called an eye mindrate.
It looks like your looking through running water. It doesn’t last long. But, long enough
To call my eye doctor. He asks me if I was under stress. Well ya, just found out about my heart
This usually happens when we are under stress.
I also put drops in my eyes, the product is called Blink Tears. My eyes seem to get dry in the winter here. Check it out with your eye doctor

Bob Jensen Keith - I have been researching Ocular Migraines - I finally found out some good info on them. I talked to my cardiologist nursing team - it is normal during recovery and will go away over time. From what I understand in my case it is connected to my stress load after a day of working at the house or just doing things and the long evacuation of the anesthesia from my system. I am 5 weeks post op, and maybe I am pushing it a bit. There are a few folks on this website with the same experience and have helped me understand these things. I will go with the flow and ride them out during the recovery to normal - mmmmmmmmmmmm - what is that? LOL. I am doing well and very grateful for my OHS outcome.

Hello! Bob - please read my journal as I hope it will be an inspiration! Remember that every case is different and that we all recover differently. In my case, I had no pain whatsoever (I'm 72 years old and weighed about 90 pounds at the time of the surgery...I have since gained a few pounds!) A positive attitude is the no. 1 requirement, which you seem to have. So, good luck...and stay positive!

Bob Jensen Thany you so much Jeannette. I also went out and bought a recliner because a lot of people told me that I would be more comfortable to live in that then try to lay flat in bed. I just received some surgery guided imagery CDs and I'm going to be listening the day of the surgery and I'm going to start listening to them tomorrow

Jeannette McLaughlin Hi! Bob - I didn't use a recliner and was very mobile right away. But, I'm sure a recliner can be a blessing for some people. My brother put up a comfortable bed in the living room, which I used for about a month (my bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs). Good for you for buying those guided-imagery CDs. Geez, I didn't know there were some specifically for surgery! Listening to them will be comforting and generate positive vibes. Again, good luck with everything!

Bob Jensen Yes - a friend of mine who went through 6 surgeries for breast cancer and recommended them to me. She listened to them just before the surgeries on the gurney, (the surgery one), then the (recovery one) in the ICU after surgery. She said it made a huge difference in the recovery, and was so positive. They are available at Healthjourneys.com The entire set is less than $50. After my journey is done, I will donate them to someone on here that could benefit from them.
Jade Bari Good luck Bob for a speedy recovery. Will send you lots of healing energy.
Bob Jensen Jade - you are an angel. Thank You so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
