Because of my infection and the need for the Maize procedure, I had the full sternotomy. I will tell you that my incision area looks very good with minimal scarring so far. One concern I had was the breathing tube and the thought of waking up with that. As it turned out, just as Dr. Castro discussed they had that tube out before I was fully awake from sedation. A complete non issue for me. A very impressive surgical team and follow up care at a great institution. Please let me know of any other questions I can answer.

Hi Brian. This is Ron Weaver. I just saw the post you put on my page about Kaiser. I feel the same way. Love Kaiser for my routine health but not crazy about the cardiac surgeons. I want a minimaly invasive approach and Kaiser is way behind in that. Did you have to buy your own insurance and leave Kaiser? Can you buy new insurance and then immediately have heart surgery?
