Hello post surgery! This first few days can be tough but it just keeps getting better and better. Little things start to work again and tubes come out. It's been 22 days and I finally got the last IV out two days ago. Wow that was a good feeling. I had so many holes in me I was afraid if I drank any water I would look like Tom the cat with water fountains coming out of me. Anyway I wish you a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Hi Conrad! Hope the anxiousness is not getting the better of your like it is me right now. I originally was supposed to be having my surgery on the same day as you, but pushed it a week because my father in laws birthday is tomm and I did not want to take that thunder away from him. However, I am going in this Friday the 27th for all my pre-op work so perhaps I can try and pop in a say hello, as long as your still there by Friday afternoon. M thoughts to you and your family with a day to go, stay strong!

Conrad Henselder I think Im about 80 % better. I agree with you the stress has to weaken our resistance. The hospital called today moved my appointment to see doctor and do pre administration testing up 30 minutes. This means up at 0330 Monday and then up at 0415 Tuesday for 0530 surgery
I dont think the stress along with these hours are to good for anyone

Hi Conrad, sounds like you are set to go. I'm almost 1 year post AVR. Fortunately, our bed has an adjustable mechanism and the position called "Zero G" worked best. (zero gravity). Anyway, my greatest "adjustment" post-op was adapting to a new sleep position. I am a TOTAL side-sleeper (fetal position) and have been that way forever I guess. For me, it was impossible to sleep on my side for what seemed like forever but my doc said don't worry about that and that as soon as the sternum fuses it will get much less painful (oh, I also got a pacemaker at the same time as my new valve) you know what??? the doc was right!! amazing how that works-you WILL feel better each day-do not get discouraged- it does pass. Peace be with you. NormK
