Hey Darlene, glad to read you're on the road to recovery. As previously noted, I too had my surgery July 14. Happy 1 week anniversary! The reality is the worse is behind us. Now, it's one day at a time recovery. Take it slow and within reason, challenge yourself a step at a time, a minute at a time. Most importantly, listen to your caregivers, listen to your body!!! It's a miraculous machine. Soon, you'll be back at full speed.

Darlene, I read where you mentioned what to do with your hair during your surgery and afterwards. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I washed my hair the night before and I braided it the morning of surgery. I took a comb & brush with me, and kept it where I could reach it to use. I even had one nurse who asked if she could brush my hair and braid it for me. If you need help, the nurses will help you with anything you’re struggling with. I’ll be praying for you!~❤️

Jill Boroniec One of my favorite memories of my hospital stay is a nurse (who I hadn't met before) seeing me leaving the ICU and saying "oh honey, let's fix that. are you ok with some detangler?" She brought detangler (from her locker!) and sprayed it through my hair and instructed my husband to brush it through once we got to the step down unit. It felt amazing! Another nurse, a day or two later, sprayed dry shampoo through my hair and and threw it up in a bun on top of my head. Everyone was super helpful. Having a good brush, dry shampoo, detangler and some soft scrunchies is helpful!

Debra Keife As women, we are faced with a lot more than men. IE period, hair, etc. It's tough to feel pretty in an ugly hospital gown and no proper shower, good hair and a touch of makeup! God bless those nurses.
