Best wishes to you on your upcoming surgery. I will be meeting with Dr. Adams next month to probably set a date for surgery. I have read such good things about Dr. Adams so I am sure we will both do well. I will be thinking good thoughts and say a prayer for you. Take care.

Hi Deborah. I had a valve replacement about 6 months ago. I will say I have felt somewhat different since the surgery and have bouts of dizziness and for some reason my mind is worried about dying. I had a successful surgery and a great surgeon but still worry. Hopefully this uneasy feeling will go away with time. This is one of those things I thought would never happen to me but I'm sure others in my situation felt the same.
Rita Savelis Oh, yes, I hear you. Post-op is hard. There is a lot to process.

Regarding your insurance issues - be the squeaky wheel! Don't give up! Maybe you can find a friend in a medical office somewhere who can help you navigate the ins & outs. Is there a patient advocate from the insurance company who can help you? I had issues as well, and made about a million calls in the month leading up to my surgery. In the end, i got the surgeon I wanted, and the hospital I wanted. There were days though...I was ready to throw in the towel and just walk away from it all. Just keep swimming!

Petey Bello Good luck to you Deborah with your insurance. Sometimes they will allow you to go out of state if there isn't a qualified surgeon in your area. (that's the key though) I live in Sedona & my cardiologist sent me to Dr. Woo at Stanford. But I was just reading about the Mayo Clinic here in Scottsdale that also does the same surgery. That might be an option for you if you cannot go out of network...Good luck! (My surgery is April 20th)

I see you are from Scottsdale. I had my surgery done in Tucson, Arizona by a surgeon out of Pima Heart. His name is Dr. Kushagra Katariya. I would recommend him to anyone. I had my aortic valve and root replaced and the only complication (which is normal for most heart patients after surgery) was afib. I'm doing great and I can't thank God enough for giving me who I consider the best surgeon around.
