Hi Deepika! I am 3 months in recovery from the Ross. Unfortunately I had post surgery complications. Happy to answer questions! I was active before surgery lift weights 2 times week and ride bike 20 - 30 miles a week. I am doing great but every day is different. Recovery is tough but I am getting stronger every day!! Working 15 - 20 hours a week now. Some days I still need naps to make it through the day! I will get brain fog if I don’t rest and i have body aches I didn’t expect.

Deepika Malhotra Thanks so much for sharing Trisha. I love that you feel you are getting stronger by the day. Any recommendations to avoid post surgery complications? Any suggestions on things I can do now to prepare for recovery - things that help and make recovery "appear / feel" less painful. Also, when did you go back to work? I am in technology and can work from home but dont want to rush.

Trisha Gross Silent aspiration - was my post surgery complication. There was nothing wrong with the Ross surgery it was successful. My surgeon was great! Unfortunately I just had a serious post surgery complication. Silent aspiration can happen in any surgery. It made my hospital stay longer and I had to get strength to walk again. I would not worry about work till at least 8 weeks post surgery. Your body will need to rest, eat and walk. Start back to work part time. Your mind and body will get tired. Maybe ask the doctor now about possible post surgery complications. Discuss it now..What is most common post surgery complications. Also at the hospital I had my husband, sister dad/mom and cousin, to help advocate for me. In time of stress you will need support. If all goes well great! If it turns south you will need people to advocate for you and ask questions. Hope that helps! Praying for successful surgery for Susans son and Deepika!

Rajan Parrikar Post-surgery: Each day and week will bring noticeable improvement. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully - walking, prescribed physical exercises, and anything else your doctors recommend. Personally, I found that meditation and pranayama were incredibly helpful during my recovery. For context, I underwent a bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement in February 2023 to address severe stenosis of my bicuspid aortic valve. Wishing you strength and a smooth recovery - all the best to you!
