Good luck with your recovery Don. The worst is over and from now things will get better.
For some time after my own aortic valve replacement surgery I felt as weak as a kitten. Washing and dressing was an effort and as for walking into the kitchen to make a cup of tea! Suffice it to say that the kitchen was a no go zone for quite a while. Day and night seemed to have changed places and sleep came in fits and starts. Now, 8 months on, I am feeling good and wish the same to you.
My advice is to go with the flow for the time being. Don't worry about sleeping at particular times. Just sleep when you want to and rest as much as you need. If you are awake during the night read or listen to an audio book. Your normal sleep routine will establish itself again in time.
Good luck!

Don,
I had my aortic valve replaced last July. A second surgery 30 days later to cut out infected chest muscle and now as of 10 days ago I am recovering from ICD surgery. I can tell you although this road has taken a few extra turns I am the better for it. I have been informed by my doctors not to continue my cross fit exercises but I think I can live with that. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I know you will be smiling a few days after surgery and all will be fine. Remember the doctors do this more than you and I do.
All the best,
Keith
