Hi Hollie saw your story and was just curious about what kind of surgery you decided to go with? In addition, admire you for being so brave and keeping positive thoughts and am doing my best to do the same. The good news is that modern medicine has come along way and I have read so many success stories on here and just feel lucky that they found my heart murmur earl on as well. Wishing you nothing but good vibes as you approach your surgery date.

Hi, Hollie! Thank you for your story and your great spirit. I’ve joined the group for my daughter Molly, who is 26, born with a bicuspid aortic valve. Her stenosis is moderate to severe via cardiac MRI. We are learning like crazy. It looks like the On-X valve is being recommended due to her youth, surgery in May. Which means open heart. In between my moments of panic, I am co-piloting all the admin of this. I’ll be following your journey, thank you for sharing!

Matthew Malooly I just had my bicuspid aortic valve repaired two weeks ago after 20 years of waiting. I'm 34. I'm well aware the mechanical valve is the "gold standard", and that's what I always assumed my destiny was. After working through the information and speaking with many doctors, ultimately landing at Mount Sinai in NYC, they were able to actually repair my valve, plan to do a Ross procedure later, and possibly avoid a mechanical valve and the anticoagulation that comes with it for the rest of my life. I'm guessing she won't qualify for repair since she has stenosis, but there are scores of people here who got a Ross Procedure at a young age, and it's absolutely worth looking in to!

Hollie Harmon Patty, how very encouraging. I am surely hoping to bounce back quickly. Yes! That is my biggest worry. My oldest is fine but my youngest still requires a good bit of lifting. My husband will certainly step in but I have a big problem taking it easy. It’s really not my nature so it will be a big adjustment. To take it easy.
