Hi Jane I see you live in Liverpool . Weight definitely is an issue . I know my cousin is opting for TAVR. How ever the most important bit is the post recovery piece. If you did your surgery an where in world would NHS still consider you as one of their patient . Will they support your post recovery. From my understanding they will not. I was told do to bear in mind all that comes after the surgery travelling , rehab , post surgery checks etc . Being in good physical condition supports the surgery and recovery . Hi Jane, Just reading your story. Am happy to email you if you wish. I was diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve with aortic stenosis. Had been followed for the last ten years until it reached that stage of being severe and time for surgery. Open heart surgery to have you valve replaced with a bovine tissue, here in Dunedin, New Zealand. As you say the systems are different in each country.Everything went well - no problems.
