Hi Jennifer, yes, I agree with you that at this point you just want to get it over with. And pretty soon, it will be over. Keep yourself occupied until then and try not to think about it (I know it's easier said than done) but please try. You will do great! All the best.

Hi, want to wish you good luck with your upcoming surgery!!! I was diagnosed about same time as you with same bicuspid valve and need to schedule a valve replacement. Very soon. I was told it cannot be replaced with minimally invasive surgery and need full open heart surgery. Was wondering exactly what you opted for, just saw this story today. Where are you having your suregery? Did you explore different doctors/hospitals/ procedures? I have distaste for all things medical so this situation is making me nuts. I’m sure you are still nervous no matter what, but are they able to replace valve with minimal cutting? In my case I was told not possible. I know your focused on your pre- op and whatever but if you can help me with this decision would really appreciate any advice. Warm wishes for a happy healthy new year and speedy full recovery!

Hi Jennifer, I can understand your anxiety. One way to calm yourself is to remind yourself that when you wake up, the risk will be over. Then you can go on with your life. As for pump head, do not worry. Your surgeon will hold your heart in his hands to repair it. And pump head will be pumping blood and oxygen throughout your body. Look at pump head as your friend. Years ago, the filters were not that developed. Now, this is "cutting-edge" technology. I wish you peace and strength as you go through this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
