Jimene, I just wanted to say that I read your post about the loneliness due to the absent family members. I want you to know that I totally, totally understand that as I am in that same position. When I joined this community last July, I felt like the loneliest person in the world. Within minutes of joining (and I mean MINUTES, like maybe 2 or 3 minutes...lol), I was greeted, supported and cared about by people I met here and have become friends (and "family") with since. This IS the place where "families" are born. I see you also realized that rather quickly. Just know that all of our hearts will be with you tomorrow and will be beating for you while yours is getting fixed. Hugs to you!!!

Hey...been where you are a few short years ago. Had the aortic aneurism repair and AVR here in Louisville. I know exactly how you feel and the nervousness you may have. You have done this and can do this again...you are obviously a very strong person, so brace yourself and hit this with confidence. You can do this and will do great. I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Get over this hump and take on the recovery full steam!!
Kick some tail!!!!

I do have an On-X valve. It does tick. Sometimes it is louder than others but I have really gotten used to it. Since I knew I was going mechanical anyway, I went with my surgeon's recommendation. Both he and my cardiologist agreed that is what they would recommend if it were their sister. The surgeon likes the On-X because a lower level of warfarin is needed. My INR range is 2-2.4 instead of 3. hope I answered your questions. Please ask if you have more.

Jimene Jetton Yes you did :) thank you so much. One week from today is my surgery and am looking forward to feeling better this time around. Last time, I felt better, then it just "changed" almost overnight it seemed. How long were you in the hospital for? Last time I was released on the 4th day, this time, I am preparing for a little longer, just in case.
