Hi Joy- Somehow at 3 o'clock in the morning I never thought I'd be posting to someone all the way around the world and then some. I was looking over this site Heart Valve Surgery.com and Adam Picks community of heart friends and I was looking for the portion of the site that put me in contact with others who are mitral patients. Just to clear up a few loose end, I'm the wife of a 73 year old gentleman who has been my better have for 53 years. Just kids actually when we said our I do's back in 65. Both of us born and bred in California and have stuck here in the state . In case you haven't heard of it the town I live in is called Fresno California. We transferred from the Oakland Bay Area in 77 and have been here ever since. Dale was pretty healthy when we moved here, but as time would have it, when he turned 43, the bottom fell out and he needed open heart. I won't give all the details, except he was having a 65 percent ejection fraction and per our surgeon he needed the surgery pronto. As the time flew by we checked in to the hospital the night before with an early surgery scheduled for the next morning. With nerves all a flutter, we walked (he rolled) to the doors that lead to the surgery OR doors and there I kissed the man who was everything an more to me. About that time I was taken to the waiting area for heart families only to find part of the family waiting. My only problem at that moment was a migraine that was blowing my sox off. Finally my other half of the family showed up with an injection that would stop the migraine. As the hours slowed to a snails pace, friends came and left with heart felt assurances that all would be well. I've come to a place that I could go on but I don't know how big of a space I can take. I can end this note with saying oh, yeah that guy well he had surgery and wow what came next?????? So what I'd like to do is this, SBriggs136@aol.com. If you are waiting for the shoe to drop, email me and I'll finish the story. By the way there is a pretty great story to end this. Hope to hear from you. Sandy
