About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 62yrs but don't feel older than 45. Fit and healthy, eat the right foods and don't smoke, the occasional wine though, got to have at least one bad habit eh? Been riding horses nearly all my life and the last 7 years helping my partner run a dry stock farm. 5 months ago had a flu injection and a few weeks later was coughing and feeling generally rundown, tired and lethargic. Also had a cough I couldn't seem to get rid of as well as my heart seemed to be going a hundred miles an hour when I went to bed at night so wasn't sleeping well. It seemed like I had bronchitis and thought my body would fight off the infection and I would come right. A month after the flu injection finally went to my doctor. My HR was 167bpm. Was put on bisoporol and had an appointment with a cardiologist a few days later. He diagnosed a severe mitral valve prolapse and also the tricuspid valve was pretty bad. Ended up having an electro cardiovascular to get my HR down to a better rate as it was afib, cardiologist said it would be 50%, but lucky for me it worked. I feel pretty good now with the meds I am on and are going for an invasive angiogram on Monday 12 November. Not too worried about that although a little nervous. They tell me this is just a procedure and I will be awake!! Supposed to be having OHS 4 weeks after angiogram, pretty close to Xmas which is a real bummer. Feeling ok but scarey about surgery.
