That was quite an inspirational note. Thank you for that. So glad you beat the odds and are doing great. Keep up the good work! And, great family photo!

Julie! I also had a mechanical aortal and mitral valve replacement 5 weeks ago. I’m recovering well, but the ticking noise is unbearable. It takes me a double dose of sleeping pill to fall asleep. It’s really audible within 10ft in the quiet room, and I hear it ALL the time. Has you ticking noise level decreased over time? Do you notice it now? Thanks lot! God bless!
Rose Madura Yes, on this journey as I call it, you have to be careful not to overdo it.

Hi Julie,
I will be having my surgery June 5, at Houston Methodist.
Were you happy with the care you got at the hospital?
Was your pain managed well?
Is there anything specific that you can think of that I should bring with me to the hospital?
How long did you stay in Houston after discharge?
Thank you for any questions you can answer to help put my mind to rest.

Hi Julie,
It's great to hear you have been up and moving around! That is so crucial for your recovery.
OHS was the hardest thing I've ever gone through, but it was my (now) husband who had the surgery. He had turned 40 years old twelve days before his surgery, and I was 33.
Your number one priority is to rest,do your breathing exercises and walking, and heal. Somewhere in the back of your head, though, remember that it's very hard, in a very different way, for those closest to you.
Best wishes to all of you!

Hi Julie,
I'm sending best wishes for an easy surgery and gentle recovery.
I'm in Austin. My cardiologist's plan is to send me to Houston for my surgery. He wants my surgeon to be Dr. Gerald Lawrie. Who will your surgeon be? What hospital are you going to?
