Hi Liz,
Like you, I am totally impressed and amazed by Dr. Nishimura, who has been looking after me since December 2019. I was referred to him by Dr. Eugenio M. Bricio, cardiologist at Memorial Cardiac & Vascular Institute in Hollywood, FL and flew from Miami to Rochester for my appointment. Another experienced cardiologist originally from India told me that Dr. Nishimura is "the guru of cardiologists." That's because Dr. Nishimura has lectured to thousands of cardiologists over the years at leading venues such as the American College of Cardiology.
What I don't have yet, however, is a cardiac surgeon to perform my valve surgery when Dr. Nishimura tells me it's time. Any recommendations from the patient-devotees of www.heart-valve-surgery.com?
George Frumkin Hi again, Liz, here I am with my wife in my "signed in" incarnation.

Liz Draeger Hi George! Yes Nish is a god and you are extremely fortunate to have him on your team. When the time comes he will refer you to the best surgeon. When it comes to heart surgery this is critical. Recommendations...Stay connected to Dr. Nishimura because you want HIM to recommend the surgeon hopefully in your town. In the meantime, regular visits to your cardiologist to keep any eye on you. Don't know if you will have open heart or minimally invasive. PS Dr. Nishimura was almost my doctor but turned out I could not travel and needed surgery sooner. More advice...stay on top of everything. There is a window and for everyone it's different. I'm here for questions.

You are an inspiration for me as I deal with shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. My OHS, aneurysm, AVR was 09/14, but two years later I found out my bovine valve had a leak. I have been the tests done also with my regular cardiologist, and answer is always the same, you know you have a leak. Really??? The fatigue is the most upsetting, as I usually have a lot of energy for a 74 year old. My family doctor will be referring me back to Cleveland Clinic where my original surgery was done, but with the pandemic now, things are not good. You are so blessed that yours was taken care of, and now your life can progress and prosper. What a wonderful outcome for you.
