Sorry to hear you are having some panic attacks. You have been through a lot. I suffer from panic attacks off and on. I took a prescribed drug while in the hospital to help me with my anxiety and continued at home. I am seven years post op and I feel great. The best is yet to come. Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling. Wishing you well.

Just noticed you situation so this is late. After watching and waiting an aortic valve murmur from 1958 I had aortic & mitral valves replaced in 2014 at Cleveland Clinic. Results were excellent with min. pain, no mental side effects. Memory and intricate problem solving remained strong. No confusion,no mental fog,no down days just great physical energy and a zest for life ,like being on a high every day without using sport drugs or alcohol. Hope you experience the same long lasting quality of life that I have.

Good luck on your surgery, Marjorie! I had aortic valve replaced last September 19, 2017. I, too, found this site and the supportive people on it to be so comforting. You are in good shape, which will help your recovery tremendously. The waiting is very difficult, but it is wonderful to be on the other side. All the best to you- you will be taking more trips before you know it. I also travel a great deal with my husband and was hiking in Mt. Rainier last month and cruising through Alaska. Glad you got your Baltic cruise in and I'm sure you will have many more great trips in the future. Prayers and best to you for a smooth procedure and a speedy healthy recovery.
