Hi Michael
Had my mitral valve surgery at Mount Sinai hospital in New York. Sent both the OR team and the nurses a edible arrangement basket for their fabulous care. Tried to send something healthy since we had heart surgery.

Hi Michael,
My name is Don from Dallas, TX area and I am 50 years old with a similar prognosis.(Mitral Reapir Surgery for Severe MR). My surgery date is March 21, and I am tenatively planning to have the minimally invasive Robotic surgery after several consultations and research, with Dr. Smith in Plano who has done well over 1,000 with this approach with good results. I could care less about the Sternotomy scar, and am most concerned with results/risks/recovery. There is a longer 'on pump' time for Robotic which is a concern for me as I still evaluate, but several medical research papers I have seen note very similar results, risk, with shorter recovery via MIS. In your story you mention you want surgeon to have full view/access? Any other thoughts or pros/cons you may have considered, heard, researched, I appreciate another point of view. Thanks! Best of luck on your continued journey.
