Good luck Paul !
I had the same surgery last November at the Cleveland clinic. I am 64 and this was my second open heart surgery done there. My first was 20yrs. ago to repair my bicuspid value. This time I was back to normal in about 3 months. I think I flew home to Connecticut after about 10 days. They will take great care of you there. Let me know if I could be of any help. Wishing you a quick recovery. Joe

Paul Connelly Thank you Suelynn! My first appt @ the Cleveland Clinic a few years ago was with Dr. Johnston before he took on his new role @ Northwestern Medicine. Trying to get in the best shape I can for my surgery in September.

Suelynn Hanegraaf Excellent, Paul! I kept up with my walking and Tai Chi right up until the day before my surgery. I like to believe both helped. After my SAVR redo surgery, I had wished that I would have incorporated strengthening exercises for my shoulders, upper back and neck. Both were sore for weeks. I am markedly better now that I’m 12 weeks post-op and started cardiac rehab 2 weeks ago. My PT and Dr Johnston’s office said the soreness is from the long surgery and positioning of the arms during surgery.
Paul Connelly Glad to hear that you're doing well and feeling better Suelynn!
Suelynn Hanegraaf Thanks, Paul! Keeping you and all of our ❤️🩹 friends in prayer.
