Roger Perkins Greg, yes sir, I had my lung hernia surgery Oct. 18th. Was under about an hour. They repaired the hernia w.out mesh. Looks gruesome, but, obviously not on the par w. OHS. I am in a good deal of pain, but, not unbearable. For me, they used a cryo-injection to deaden the nerves for approx. 2 months while the area heals. I think this is really helping w. the pain (until it wears off).
They wove my ribs closer since there was a bid gap & no muscle in the space where the protrusion was. As w. all surgeries, I think it's imperative to land on a very experienced surgeon.
All in all, the cosmetic side is not pretty & will probably take me about a month or two to heal, but, am able to walk & work lower body for now. Feel free to tag in any time!

Thanks for the response, I had my Ct scan and now go back on Thursday to talk with the surgeon at Duke. I just found out that my health insurance of 15 years will be cancelled at the end of the year. So I am in a mad dash to resolve this. I will write with more specific questions after my apt. when I understand what they want to do. Thanks Greg

I'm convinced that processed foods are responsible for most of the ailments in the U.S. At any rate, it's not easy to change one's diet. We wish you well. I'm sorry you need to have another surgery. My god Roger...It looks like you be better not doing anything originally. I am getting ready for a possible surgery. I know that I have a moderate to severe mitral leakage as well as a moderated tricuspid leak and a trace leak with the aorta. I have some calcification of the aorta.
