Hi, Suzanne. Glad to meet another annuloplasty survivor! We seem to be a bit few and far between. I’m sorry you had such a rough surgery. My annuloplasty surgery went well. But the open heart surgery I had previous to that was a nightmare! But we’re both still here! We’re tough ladies!

Suzanne Nash You
are a real heart surgery warrior, Julie! I didn't even know I had an
annuloplasty ring until the nurses gave me a card to carry in my wallet!
I thought I would set off the metal detectors at the airport!, but the
surgeon said it is just a tiny titanium device and so far no issues. Cleveland Clinic sounds awesome!

Hi Suzanne, I was reading your story and I am glad to hear you are feeling wonderful a year after your surgery and the later fix of duct ecstasia. I am moving forward to surgery and was concerned about other complications, like yours, post surgery. Did your doctor mention if the breast complication was a common complication after heart surgery? Hope your other pains have healed as well.

Suzanne Nash Hi
Grace. I researched this and it seems my breast problem is unusual. My
surgeon only mentioned that the breast would be misshapen after the
surgery but would eventually return to normal. You might want to ask
your surgeon about the placement of the incision. I was just unlucky and my repair was perfect.
It was no walk in the park but I am good as new now! Take care and all
the best!

Grace Mason Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am not a candidate for minimally invasive but I will definitely ask some additional questions about how my surgery will affect my breast tissue. Glad you are feeling so great! Take care

Suzanne Nash The other problem no one warned me about that probably worried me the most just after surgery were visual disturbances - frequent optical migraines/ flashing lights/obscured vision. I was assured as they were fleeting they were not a major problem, but they were alarming and went on for weeks. I think that is not uncommon for heart surgery. I should add that my vision check 6 months after surgery showed no changes.

Grace Mason Thanks for sharing this info. I have been concerned about being on a heart lung machine and if it might affect my vision, and that would definitely concern me, post surgery. I do currently get visual aura with migraines, so I'm not unfamiliar with them, but it is good to know that it is common more frequently post surgery.
Valerie Allen Yes, Susanne Nash. I have not heard that. Thank you for mentioning.
