hi Tim. I also go to Mayo Rochester. Have bicuspid. I have aortic stenosis severe moderate aorta no surgery yet. Go back in December for another echo. What symptoms did you start having when you knew it was time for surgery? They also want to do onyx on me. I want to ask about Ross Procedure. I am 58. Glad to hear you are doing good.

Hello Tim - I had an aorta onx valve implanted and ascending aorta aneurysm removed. I chose this valve because I am only 52. I did not want another surgery down the road to replace a bovine valve so I went with the mechanical. I am on Coumadin and will be for life. It’s been a lifestyle change for the better and have my INR checked once a week. I need to stay in between 2-3 for the next 3 months and than it will be 1.5-2 after that. The home units are relatively inexpensive but the strips are a little pricey. I don’t have one yet but I drive by the Coumadin clinic every day for work so I can pop in when I need to. It’s not a big deal to me but some patients have a problem with it. It’s all balance. Every patient is different and age to me was a deciding factor. Hope this helps!

Welcome Tim. It must be really cold where you are at. Hope this site and our heart warriors will give you support and answer your questions when you have them. My heart murmur was also discovered in 2014. I had my Aortic valve replaced a little over a year ago, I also had an aneurysm mended. I found a lot of information, comfort and support on this site.
