Valarie Sullivan No not yet. The mixed feeling Dr is also a rhythm specialist and I have been having short runs of a-fib. Figure I’d keep him for that and for the other tests he wants to do to see if still need the surgery or not. Been doing pretty decent lately, so I think I will be alright for now . When the surgery becomes a “go” I will look at getting someone else.

Hi Valerie, In Feb. 2023 I had a CT scan due to lung nodules. They were and are fine. Pneumonia most likely caused them. Mild aortic stenosis. Fast forward to fall 2023 when a CT scan showed severe aortic stenosis which had progressed with no symptoms to 43 . I started looking for help and chose the TAVR process. I met with the TAVR team in January and they told me I could not have TAVR because of " my anatomy
I was a Premie baby and had scarlet fever at age 8. After that I had a heart murmur.
On Feb. 19 of this year I had OHS. Maybe you can wait another 6 months before surgery but if you are having serious symptoms it would seem that in consultation with your Dr. earlier might be better and safer to do it before severity becomes worse. Whatever you choose I am sending good healing thoughts to you.
By the way I am doing great. It is almost like I never had surgery. God is good🙋😊

Valarie Sullivan I am so glad you are recovering so well! That is greatly encouraging! I don’t have serious symptoms, but the fatigue is creeping up faster. My former valve dr told me that when I walk across a room and get worn out, it’s time. Not there yet! Thank the good Lord! What’s worrisome is the dizzy spells which come only once in awhile and the vision issues. So I think I can take my time in searching for a surgeon in my network.

Hi Valarie -I am doing quite well. I am pretty much back to my daily activities, but I was just borderline for surgery so I feel a bit more energy but not tons. I completed cardiac rehab. I still get a little winded on stairs. But all around I recovered much better than I had envisioned.

Valarie Sullivan I am so glad you are doing so well! I am borderline, too, and wondering if it will mean waiting to have the surgery. My former valve surgeon told me that a new valve is usually placed in a “severe” patient and will only bring them up to the “moderate” level. Talk about a let down! Sheesh! Ah well. At least it won’t get worse!

Hi Valarie, the breathing is what made me realize I had a problem. Funny how our bodies compensate for these things. Glad you found this website there’s a lot of resources and good people who have a lot of experience and suggestions. Hope you find a surgeon in network. Mine is in network but I’m paying him monthly to pay off my deductible. Like the eyelashes and eyes of your photo. Who is that?

I feel funny putting my picture out there on the “interwebs” as my favorite podcaster calls it. May change it later.
Thank you, for the welcome and for sharing your story! I read your journal. You have been through a lot and are coming out strong!

Suzette Schear I like the eyelashes. That’s really funny. I’m not a big Facebook person and I don’t like putting my picture out there either, I work in advertising but limit myself. This website has helped me immensely because nobody in my life has issues like this. It’s been good to be able to speak to others that have been through it.

Valarie Sullivan I agree! It’s so helpful to know, for sure, that you are not alone. I mean, I knew, intellectually, there were other heart patients out there. But it’s good to make the connections!
