Vickie,
At the hospital I had a sore throat, night sweats, and a temperature that ranged from 101 to 103 every day. The cardiologist finally ran a chest x-ray and echo and said that he found a very small amount of fluid in my pericardium. He put me on methylpredniSolone 4 mg (Medrol Dosepak). While on the Dosepak my temperature returned to normal, my sore throat ended, and so did the night sweats.
The hospitalist (generalist) who was seeing me also suggested that the more I used the inspiration spirometer the more my temperature would be under control. This also proved to be true, although using it did not solve all symptoms and did not suppress my temperature for long.
I hope this will help your son to discover what is going on with his health.
As a side note, I am not doing well and I called the cardiologist yesterday, who sent me to the emergency room. While there they ran a CT with contrast, Chest X-ray, and echo. They found nothing wrong except that my pulse is fast and my blood pressure is very low. I believe we should be questioning the medication I am on, so I am seeing the cardiologist on Friday. If this appointment does not get me anywhere, I am going to cut my loses and seek a better doctor. Sometimes you just have to search until you find the best fit.
Sending best wishes and prayers.
Debbie Chatzky Anna, I’m sorry you are going through this and pray you find answers soon.

Chris Purvis That’s weird. I’ve had a cough but it’s just to clear my lungs nothing major. Night sweats I think would be common given what the body ahas gone through. I’m usually a hot dude but after this I’ve been cold and hot. I’m not a doctor..hopefully so more friends will chime in.
