I hope everything goes well Waltr. My Cardiologist has recommended a bio valve but I am 62. I have severe asymptomatic aortic stenosis. Playing a waiting game for now but inevitably will need replacement. Its not easy but I am so grateful I found this site with so many encouraging and kind folks on it. Noody understands quite as well as the people who are on the same journey.

Walter Lewandowski I have got such a range of recommendations to work with right now. It is difficult to decide. Part of me wants to do this just one more time, the other part prefers no Coumadin. Tough choices.

Jennifer McInerney My Cardiologist recommended a bio valve to me for the following reasons. Bio valves last longer the older you are. They aren't sure why. Get a bio valve now and if you need another one it's highly likely TAVR will be the new standard. No Coumadin. No clicking (would bug me). Tissue valves continue to improve in terms of longevity. Tough decision. Plus and minus to both. Apparently if you are young, mechanical is the way to go. Over 60, bio valve is recommended. It's the in-between years that have a tough decision.

Rita Savelis This is a tough choice for everyone. There is absolutely no right decision, just the decision you make. No matter what you choose, things could have been otherwise. It's frustrating. You'll never know. So you just have to choose and then move forward. A patient's reaction to any kind of valve and to any medication is completely individual and singular. Hopefully you can trust your doctor to guide you. I have 2 mechanical valves, and life goes on.
