Lenore Mitchell Interesting story, Ben, and it's a cautionary tale for all of us. It's imperative that we see the very best cardiologists and surgeons for heart problems. In my case, my HMO cardiologist did the usual tests (cath, TEE, echos) but their interpretation was very different from the Cleveland Clinic physicians who said the HMO left out crucial measurements on the TEE, and also CC did a more thorough analysis of the heart cath and determined that I have 10-20% blockage of the LAD (coronary artery) which means I should be on a statin. The HMO missed this entirely. So many reasons that it's crucial to select a center of excellence for cardiac care. I dropped the HMO as on Jan 1 and had surgery at CC Jan 7. It's great that you're headed to CC for surgery. Soon you'll join those of us in recovery mode.
