Pam Gabriel Hi Brian! So glad to se your post! I am scheduled for a Ross procedure on Monday, 14 October. Trying to get prepared to travel over to Salt Lake City as I live in Boise Idaho. Traveling for the procedure is probably the worst part to try and prep for OK, not really packing is easy part.đ I would love any advice that you could share. I am fairly active very healthy for a 56yo. How long were you in the hospital? Did you wake up from surgery with a vent? How are you doing now?

Dan Fouratt Brian, great story and thanks for sharing you have a great looking family so stay healthy they need you. I agree, this site helped me and I want to help others. Pam I am an active 63 year old and I woke up restrained. You in all probability have a vent. I thought about asking to restrained as it is not good to pull out the vent. They told me that I woke up at one point and went straight for the vent. They controlled me and I fell back to sleep, that is when they restrained me. Others I have spoken with said it is difficult having the tube in. I wished I asked to be restrained. There is no down side to the request. Dan

Valerie Allen I vaguely remember having the vent in but I went right back to sleep. Maybe they woke me up a bit to take it out but I was so groggy I donât recall. Wasnât a factor for me.

Pamela Gregory Congratulations Brian!!! Beautiful family Something comforting about the 1 year mark. I think you start to believe you are ok. I love that you want to give back to this community. I felt exactly like you in that I don't think I could have done this without the support from this group leading up to and after surgery!

Brian Earley Hi Pam. Wishing you lots of luck. I was in the hospital for 5 days post op. The vent was out by time I woke up (they took it out when I was âin twilightâ as they call it. Itâs so important to be as mobile as you can when they ask you to be. You wonât feel like it, but trust me itâs so important for your recovery. I didnât have much of an appetite (besides jello). Each day gets better. Iâm doing great now thanks fully
Brian Earley Thank you everyone for the positive words and well wishes.
