Carol Kauffman  Thanks so much for all your good wishes! I grabbed my make up bag last thing- only managed to get the lipstick on one day. However, got lots of comments! I highly recommend it to boost morale- lol!

Carol Kauffman  Just a short update: it's now almost 14 months post OHS for AV replacement and 1 bypass. My only whines at this point are some numbness in my L leg where they took a vein (I think they nicked a nerve) and still some pain w TBE incision- but only when I'm really reaching, pulling, or when my toddler grandboys gleefully jump on me lol! For those of you going thru OHS for the first time, I hope sharing the following experiences re: my recovery- 1) yes, I was uncomfortable, but overall, the recoup time was quiet, peaceful, and, yes, even joyful. I was so grateful I was alive! Just know that you will b in good hands- relax and enjoy the ride:-). Last piece of info- I was very glad my hospital (OSU Ross Hospital- Wexner Center) does IV drips of magnesium both pre and post surgery. I didn't have 1 skipped or irregular heartbeat the whole time, unlike others I know who went into afib. I can't say for sure it was the magnesium, but you may want to bring it up with your docs.
