George Gardopee  So I’m home, feeling tired but good overall. This is my walking companion, Casey. We adopted him in the Spring so that I had incentive to walk after the surgery. He was brought up from a kill shelter in Arkansas with heart worm. He was treated and is now negative for heart worm, but he has some damage to his heart and lungs that affects his stamina. So, we will be doing our cardiac rehab together.

Richard Munson  Nothing like a best friend. They ask for so little and provide so much. I still retain a picture of my girl clinging to me once i got home and i look at it often. My wife provided a lot of care but no face licks. Lol. I love your picture. I can tell by your face that he will be a big contributor in your recovery.

Richard Munson  George, i printed out your picture with casey and it is on my bulletin board alongside my picture with cassie. It is an inspiration for me. Dog people are a special breed ( pun intended). Have a great holiday.

George Gardopee  I’m touched Richard. We cross over in other areas also. I am/was something of a vintage car person. I restored a 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider some years ago. I don’t still have it but the process was enormously both frustrating and rewarding. I enjoyed the photos of your convertible too.

Richard Munson  George i am truly honored that you have followed some of my postings since my surgery last january. Too bad we don’t live closer as you seem like a great guy and would enjoy some of the car shows i frequent in the summer. I can honestly say i have not met anyone at a car show that i did not like. Down to earth people and proud of their cars. Most all the cars are drivers not trailer queens which is the term used for show cars only. I wish i had the mechanical ability to do more of my own work but do not. My wife often says to our car mechanic to keep the screwdriver out of his hands so he does not stab himself. I bought this car in 2014 primarily to drive never expecting to still own our boat still work, or have open heart surgery but i have managed to do all that stuff and average 6200 miles a year.

Richard Munson  Very funny. This week has been domesticated dog stressful between cassie eating a jar of peanut butter to her nasty limp which we now know was caused by an apparent chase after a bunny in her pen. Don’t ask me how i know, suffice to say that i know. Sometimes there can be a fine line between domesticated and call of the wild. I have erected many a bunny deterrent around her enclosure but they seem to always find a way in. Stupidity? Death wish? Who knows. Thanks for history of dogs. Heading to a basketball game this afternoon.

Sara Latina  You look amazing!! Congrats on starting recovery (and looking so good doing it). Keep smiling. You got this!!

George Gardopee  The incision just looks like a bad scratch plus a little bruising. I’ll try to get a shot in a bit.

George Gardopee  I just got the word I should be released tomorrow for a 5-day total stay. I just need an echo and to get the last chest tube out. I walked about a mile in the hall yesterday; going to try to repeat today.

Deena Z  Incredible, a mile. Way better than I faired and we had a similar surgery. You must be in a great shape

George Gardopee  Thanks everyone for your well-wishes and support. I was told this morning that they are throwing me out today. Happy day!

George Gardopee  I was released Monday evening for a total 5 day stay including surgery day. Back at our AirBnB, feeling pretty good. I got 8 hours of sleep last night in two 4-hour chunks with one bathroom break in the middle. Only taking Tylenol for discomfort. We are driving back home this AM. I cannot complain.

Ginny Turner  Enjoy being home, George. You've been a model patient - way to go! And Richard, I plan to be young again when I get my heart all fixed up. New year, new me!
