Christine Oliva  Hi Lisa love your dog. As an animal lover I will share with you with I did with my three dogs while recovery Aortic valve replacement. The first two weeks my dogs were taken care of by my in-laws who I knew would baby them. This allowed my husband and I to concentrate on my recovery in the hospital and those trying first days home. The second week I was feeling better, but still pretty wobbly and coughing. By the third week pretty steady getting up from my chair and able to let my dogs out when needed. It was not until week 6 that I felt comfortable enough to take my dogs for regular walks due to them pulling at times. Everyone is different so these times will vary. You maybe lucky and can do it even quicker. Good luck to you and your family with the upcoming surgery and recovery.
