Patrick Ahern Thanks..Failed is the Irish (Gaelic) for 'welcome. So the appropriate response then from me is 'go raibh maith agaibh' - thanks to ye. I've updated/finalised my story. I's been great to read the honesty and openess in people's stories. I'll post again the week after next, when I should be home again..my wife is taking my phone away for the week I am in hospital - she's right, though being in there without visitors (due to covid) doesn't appeal..c'est la vie...
Patrick Ahern I meant 'failte' but the predictive text took over!
Steven Methot I hope you won't think less of me when I say that I play the bodhran.... Glad to have you aboard.
God bless you and successful surgery

Patrick Ahern thanks to all those who gave good wishes, even bodhran players!! All well.sonfsr - day is day 14 after the MV repair op. I was at my local doctor due to a weeping and infected drainage wound (maybe due to over exertion or stretching?) but then went on a 1km walk with ease, so I am recovering apace..Mentally too, I'm doing fine, though I know there can be up and downs there too. I am looking forward to a good Christmas holidays (in Ireland that can last til New Years), with rest. walks, Christmas movies and snacks. Although the need for safe Covid practices is a must, and means that I'll have to stay outside when visiting elderly parents, most of our combined families live within an hour of each other (save a sister in law 130miles away and lockdown may stop us meeting this Christmas, and a brother in law in Long Island..What's App and Zoom are great however, so in the scheme of things those absences seem like 1st world problems. Good wishes to all on the forum.
