Shirley L Miller They are both family pets . They are going to be mated again with better results at the end of the year. They are from top Kennels and we will try once more for a litter. We will be v excited if its successful, and all our lives will carry on almost as usual with the furry shadows they are now. Just like humans, dogs are never quite the same once they have had a pregnancy.

Shirley L Miller This is the anniversary of the OHS, and I am happy that I had forgotten about that till I saw the blog sitting in my Inbox. The only thing that reminds me is still getting a twinge when I am laying flat in bed and put my hands across the scar Its apparently my go to place to relax. It doesnt hurt its just a feeling of tension. Go well everyone.See you all next year.
Laura Dirico They will be so happy when you are home.

Shirley L Miller Thank you all for your comments. I was day 1 on September 1st 2017 so its easy for me to recall how any days it is post-op, but I have been feeling so good and busy that I forget to do that. On day 33 my breeding queen Ragdoll , and her 4 babies were rushed to the Vet clinic. The mum had a huge peri-natal haemorrhage and died. So my focus for the next 4 weeks was getting up and bottle feeding these orphans. They provided me with a focus 2 hourly to 3hrly from 3 weeks old. I hardly noticed anything to do with my AVR [tissue] The only thing bothering me is being on Warfarin[Marven], and going for INR.tests weeklyu. Its 27kms away and it does get me out of the house. I got my Shelties home the day after I had spent 10days at my daughter's house. We were very pleased to see each other, and Candy took over maternal cleaning duties with the kittens.

Shirley L Miller Yea I've just been discharged back to the care of my local team.as its exactly 12 weeks post op. No more Warfarin neccessary, and the furry ones plod along as expected and provide an excellent focus for me. The driving ban was up 2 months ago, and so I was once again self-sufficent.
I am good to go driving myself all over the family ranging, from 50 to 100kms away. I still have a few crepes [crackles] in my L lung field following the pneumonia, but dont need any treatment for that.
Best wishes to anyone due to consent to this surgery. Its OK. to feel concerned, but world wide teams converge to take great care of us. From where I am, they succeed.

Shirley L Miller 5 months later and I generally forget that I even had surgery., and certainly forget how miserable life was before surgery.
We had an unsuccessful attempt at mating the Shelties, but they just thought it was a playdate. We will try that again in August.
Best thing to do is exercise as soon as possible. I didnt as I had residual pneumonia and crepes 4 months later, so I missed the vital build up to full strength, Now I need an exercise buddy to keep me going.
Keep ticking along.

Shirley L Miller 4 1/2 mths later and unless someone reminds me I generally forget that I had OHS.I go to the hydrotherapy pools 57kms away and exercise for an hour weekly This is my 3rd week and my goal is to improve my strength and focus on my knee exercises as I cant trust my knees to hold me on deep steps or at the beach. My lungs are better now.and the furry members of the household are all sprightly running.. I am not sure I will ever get to do any kind of running again. Does it matter..no not at 82yrs old in a few weeks.

Shirley L Miller 7 1/2mths later and I wonder if anyone can describe the feelings when in AF. I was feeling very tired a few nights ago and sat down in my lifter-chair, and I was totally relaxed when I felt like I was in a mini earthquake. Tight down my legs and inside my trunk was quivering. Nothing to be seen on the outside of my body ..I did some deep controlled breathing and it went away.It has never happened again.
