About Me (In My Own Words)
I’m 47, with severe AR. I had bacterial sepsis when I was 35, which damaged my aortic valve. I always knew the time would come when I would have to face surgery, but I thought it’d be further down the road. I’ve been feeling dizzy, so my cardiologist had me meet with the surgeon on the 1st of February, the next day my their office called and my surgery was already scheduled for the 14th of March. Talk about not having time to prpare. So, I have an Angiogram on February 16, final consultation with surgeon on the 19th... and then on to surgery. I am anxious, and feeling unprepared on what to expect. Everyone around me keeps telling me it’ll all be FINE, but they’re not the one who’s getting cut open either. So... not a ton of support here, and I’m trying to wing it the best I can.
