About Me (In My Own Words)
Mitral Valve Stenosis from contracting rheumatic fever as a child in the '60's. Started having serious issues in 2012 when I woke from a sound sleep from a pounding heart (220 bpm). Admitted to BWH-Boston for ablation and cardioversion. Afterwards, followed annually with echocardiogram and medications for heart rhythm and blood clots. Started developing more symptoms in 2017 and had Valvuloplasty at BIDMC-Boston. In Feb 2018, more symptoms (shortness of breath and edema) and after getting 2nd and 3rd opinions, booked for open heart surgery for mitral valve replacement this July. So very thankful for all of the support and love received by my family, dear friends and medical professionals.
