About Me (In My Own Words)
I couldn't choose QAV in the drop down here as it isn't available. I guess this is a rare anomaly! I am just getting started in this journey after just beating cancer 15 short weeks ago. It was during that process they discovered by QAV. I have done lung testing, CT scans, Blood work, Coronary Angiogram and more blood work .
I also have horrid kidneys I am trying to keep alive through all this. Stage 3 renal failure (CKD). They are putting time between my angiogram and the actual operation to give them time to heal from the contrast.
My history is heart issues on both sides...but if I had to pick and choose which things to have from my parents, I'd probably go with what I actually have.
My father had a triple bypass at 40 years old and then a double at 64. At 70 his first pacemaker/defibulator was placed and he went to 83 years old and 4 pacemakers. he did live the last 2 years in dialysis and did well. Just hard on him.
My mother was a needle-phobe. She knew something was wrong but hid it from us all for YEARS! Finally, after vomiting blood everywhere, she was rushed to the ER and put on a lung machine. She had a bad valve and just let it get worse until it almost killed her. She also lost her kidney function and was on dialysis, but she was diabetic and it just all went bad for her until she died.
Then there's me!
Born with 4 cusps in one aortic valve. Catching it early enough to be strong enough to get through it all! My lungs are strong. My other arteries are clear and I have no heart damage.
I guess I won't be having that major heart attack I fully expected in my golden years...I look forward to being on the other side of all this and I am blessed to be alive when technology can fix me!
