About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with mitral valve regurgitation while pregnant with my fourth child, about 24 years ago. Have been followed annually ever since by a cardiologist and echoes. Every year it has been unchanged and I’ve had no troubling symptoms and no restrictions. Although I wonder now if my occasional bouts with anxiety are related to the condition. Imagine my surprise last month when I learned the regurgitateion had worsened to a degree that it is now a good time for me to have surgery, hopefully repair. I am still in a bit of a state of disbelief. I was able to schedule the surgery for January of 2019, which works for me in so many ways, as I will feel better having coordinated the other areas of my life for my recuperation. Can’t wait to be on the other side of this though, like so many others of you!
