About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm a 65 year old male with symptomatic aortic stenosis and insufficiency. Echocardiography demonstrated a severly calcified aortic valve with severe aortic insufficiency and stenosis. Coronary angiography demonstrated normal coronary arteries with out any atherosclerosis. I went to the cleveland clinic for evaluation and was referred for aortic valve replacement. My surgery was done at the cleveland clinic by Dr. Joseph Sabik on December 1, 2009. I was able to have the valve replaced by minimally invasive surgery(an 8-cm incision over the upper sternum). Recovery has gone well and I'm doing most everything I did before without any lifting. Just finished rehab and I,m ready to start back to the gym. I must mention that the cleveland clinic and Dr. Sabik were great. Would never go anywhere else. Doing my follow-up on 2/15 at the clinic. Forgot to mention that a Carpentier Edwards bovine pericardial aortic valve was used for replacement,
