About Me (In My Own Words)
In April of 2022 I was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Aneurysm, a regurgitating Mitral Valve and regurgitating Tricuspid valve. Both of which were moderately leaking. 6 months later my Mitral valve regurgitation progressed to Severe and I was also symptomatic. Apparently these were all congenitally derived, however the quick progression for somebody my age (36 year old) is still in question.
After meeting with multiple cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in NYC, I decided to go with getting my valves robotically repaired by Dr. Loumet. This was the best decision I ever made. Him and his team went above and beyond and have provided me a second chance at life which I will be forever grateful for.
After 5 hours, I was able to have my Mitral valve completely repaired, severe MAC removed from my mitral annulus and my Atrial Septal Aneurysm repaired. Luckily, once this was done, the leakage in my Tricuspid valve reduced down to mild, which didn’t require this additional valve to be repaired after all- thank god!
Still in the process of healing and taking it day by day at a time. Focusing on gratitude and celebrating the small wins on this healing journey.
