About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm 6 days post op. One of my nurses called me a rock star because I did so well in the hospital. Evidently I'm a champ at post op sleeping! LOL. She said most people are not comfortable enough to sleep well, but I had took my meds and got a good night's sleep. Home now and having muscle difficulties in my neck, shoulders, back and arms which is painful and annoying, but at least I can't forget and lift my arms up over my head. Steroids are helping a lot, but now I'm having trouble sleeping because of them. It will all work out in a few days. I'm just so glad that it's over, and next time I need a new valve they made sure there's room to just do a TAVR.
I had a TAVR in January 2018. Now, 5 years later the valve has failed, and I cannot have a TAVR in TAVR. I am scheduled for a TAVR explant and SAVR. This has a higher 30-day mortality rate than just having a SAVR and I'm very worried. I break out in tears at unexpected times and feel so emotional. I'm glad that I am going to get to have Christmas with my family first, but I must admit that part of me would like it done now so I don't have to worry.
