About Me (In My Own Words)
During a visit to my see my daughter in Denver, I found myself out of breath while riding her bike on a 10 mile trip. Thinking it was the altitude and the fact that I hadn't been running for a while I did not make a big deal of it. Over the next several months a develped a cough I couldn't shake. Three visits to my PCP all ended with cough medication and antibiotics. Finally 6 months later during my annual exam, I underwent an Echo which discovered severe mitral regurgitation. As a chiropractor who takes health very seriously and someone who works 10 hour days, I was more than shocked when I heard the news. No family history of heart disease, excellent eating habits, daily exercise, no medications and no alcohol. I have not dwelled on the negative though, but remain focused on getting back to work ASAP. That will be the hardest part for me, slowing down as I have not had a sick day from work in 32 years. Reading Adam's book helps to remind me that I am not to rush back, even though that is my DNA make up.
I pray for a successful recovery and plan on being at my daughter's bedside welcoming our first grandchild in May.
No White Flags!
