About Me (In My Own Words)
I found out four years ago that I have aortic stenosis. I had a murmur my entire life, but no one ever worried about it or checked it out. My uncle at the age of 52 had an aortic arch repair and some other surgeries, and his mother also had an aortic problem, but no one ever said it was congenital. I’m really grateful for the doctor that found this because I was able to monitor my symptoms. The valve has now closed to the point where I’m going to need an AVR and I’m planning on doing this in October of this year. For most of the summer, I’ve been asymptomatic and up to this point but now I’m starting to have some chest pain and discomfort, and I’m really scared about the upcoming surgery. But I feel really grateful that I have a fantastic surgeon and cardiologist and we’re hoping to do some of a minimally invasive. It’s not a Tavr, but hopefully I won’t have to have the full chest. i’m meeting my surgeon in September and the surgical team so wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. I’d appreciate it and I’m really grateful for this site..
