About Me (In My Own Words)
I visited my cardiologist in early August because I was a little fatigued. I got an EKG and exercise nuclear stress test and an Echocardiogram. The Echocardiogram revealed an Aortic aneurysm and Moderate to severe Aortic Stenosis w/ Calcification. Since then I have had a CT scan that confirmed the Echocardiogram I had Cardio catherization about two weeks ago. It was pain free BTW they went thru the femoral Artery I was a little tiered the next day but that was it.
Tomorrow I will have presurgical testing with the surgery a week away. This is a scary ride!
The Aortic Aneurysm is at 5.5 cm so I need to do this immediately, if not sooner. Its looks like open chest surgery is the only good option. The aortic valve concerns me. Am I eligible for heart valve repair? Does any one know? is replacement the only course of action? As far as valve replacement I am leaning toward a biological valve because of the meds involved with the metal valve. I am fairly active as well. If I get a Biological valve will it be easy to replace in 10 to 15 years with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) the less invasive surgery or will they Have to operate open heart? Any one with experience in this? Anyone know anything about the new On-X Aortic Valve. I understand its is a newer generation heart valve that would require less blood thinners.
Outside of harboring biological ticking time bomb I feel fine. Really no symptoms. The Cadio Cath /Angiogram was pain free and easy.
