About Me (In My Own Words)
Rheumatic fever at age 8 resulting in mild mitral stenosis. Over the years got worse. In 2001 had valvuloplasty at Mt Sinai in NY. January of 2007 developed atral fib. Began warfarin therapy and two meds to lower heart rate. One cardio version that held for two years then back in a-fib and another attempt to cardio vert with no success. Out of rhythm after two days. Have been on warfarin since 2007. In 2009 went to Cleveland Clinic to see if another valvuloplasty could be done. Answer was no. Was evaluated for valve replacement and after cardiac cath answer was to wait. Was told pulmonary pressure was not bad enough and opening was in moderate range. Now 6 years later pulmonary pressures are in moderate to severe range and having shortness of breath and fatiqigue so time to get this taken care of. Looking forward to being past surgery and rehab.
