About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a murmur and BAV as a teenager at a high school sports physical, but have always been athletic and healthy. I am now 45, and was told this summer at a routine cardiologist appointment that my stenosis is now severe and the valve needs to be replaced this year. I was surprised, as I've been running well and am asymptomatic. I have been tired, but attributed it to increased stress and longer hours at work. I'm hopeful for the increased energy everyone seems to report in these journals following aortic valve replacement, and I wouldn't mind faster race times either!
