About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse at age 7, and was monitored every few years by a cardiologist, as I had mild mitral regurgitation. I am 50 years old now and, for the past 5 years, have been monitored every 6 months for moderate to severe mitral regurgitation. My most recent stress echo and TEE show that things have begun to slightly worsen, so I received 2 surgical consults, both which recommended surgery within the next few months. I am scheduled for surgery on 1/28/25 at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Gillinov. I will be traveling there for the surgery.
