Vikram Kaushik i dont know earliel LDL Doctor gave me Icos 1 mg for 30 days. I am very much concerned , I dont know even my surgery was OK as LVEF was 55% and AS was 0,9 and due to this they recommended for mechanical valve surgery at an age of 42 and now after 4 months stil my inr value os les than 1,5 doctor recommended to take 4 mg of acitrom

Marie Myers I understand it is difficult to regulate the levels of anticoagulants in the early days after surgery. Increasing the dose of acitrom sounds like the correct action . You will have to test regularly to check your blood levels. Also, it is important to maintain a consistent diet of foods that work against acitrom like leafy greens (foods high in Vitamin K). The icos will help get your cholesterol down, but you should try to eliminate saturated fats from your diet to help decrease cholesterol intake.

Let me try two weeks with same diet every week and then get tested PT INR, I get my all food made in mustard oil only and with very less amount,

Try not to be discouraged, as many people on this site have talked about how difficult it is to regulate anticoagulants in the early days after heart surgery. Robert Miller I don't have a mechanical valve but I was told it basically lasts for a lifetime, unlike the tissue valves. So I think you should be fine. Just make sure you take the meds/warfarin. It prevents blood clots.

Suzette Schear I agree with Robert my surgeon explained that a mechanical valve is a 1 time surgery with a lifetime of being on warfin or blood thinners for the rest of your life. The tissue valve will or could require another surgery.

susan harris my son was just told last week at cleveland clinic that after getting an On x mechanics valve now, he could elect to have it switched to a bovine valve qt age 60 or 65. i’m not sure i. relieve them but that’s what they said.

Hi All,
i am going to complete my 6 weeks of AVR and AS surgery , Feeling excited as well as nervous,
Still medicine is not fixed despite i dont eat green leaf vegetables, recent INR was 3.24 ( 4 mg Acitrom and 75 mg ecosprin), now after this report doc. advised for 3 mg let see,
I am nervous as now i am Jobless and i am just 39 years old and married with two daughter , i really dont know whioch job should i do
Pls help friends
