About Me (In My Own Words)
Ten days ago, I was given the news that I have Mitral Valve Regurgitation . This was totally unexpected as I have had no obvious symptoms.
I see a cardiologist on Nov. 1.
So glad to have found this to hear and share experiences.
August 15th 2024
I am being followed by Dr. Matangi at Kingston , Ontario. I am now taking Amlodipine 2.5mg since January 2023.
The only symptom I have noticed is that I have a very minimal shortness of breath when I climb up 15 steps or more. This resolves very quickly.
I still exercise 1.5hrs to 2 hrs , three to four times weekly. I do the treadmill, stairclimber, cycle outdoors, weight trainimg to name a few. Sometimes yoga. My doctor tells me to continue my current regime of exercising because I have minimal symptoms.
My doctor also added that due to the shape of mitral valve flaps, I must have contracted rhematic fever as an infant or as a small child. My parents have always said that i was a healthy child. My doctor tells me that one can contract the bacteria but show no signs of illness.
So here I am, trying to live my life as normal as possible and knowing what my future holds with regards to my heart.
