About Me (In My Own Words)
In 2010, I was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis. I was fortunate to be sent to a cardiologist, Dr. David Bolon. I was 58 and extremely fit with no symptoms except for the echocardiogram results.
On July 20, 2010, I had an aortic valve replacement (23mm Bovine Pericardial valve) in NY Presbyterian Hospital with Dr. Girardi.
I was walking up stairs on day 4 feeling good. However, on July 26th, during my hospital discharge, (dressed waiting for the approval) I had cardiac arrest. My heart stopped for 8 seconds but the Rapid Response Team saved me. The nurse required me to keep my wifi monitor on while waiting.
I have not had any issues and have been exercising, and playing tennis several days a week. However, I developed chronic hip pain
2 years ago. I had a very successful hip replacement September 25, 2020. If not for the pre-op echocardiogram, I would not know I have aortic stenosis again.
Therefore, after several tests, it has been determined that I am a candidate for TAVR scheduled this Tuesday.
I would appreciate anyone sharing their experience with TAVR?
