About Me (In My Own Words)
Born with Tetralogy of Fallot, I underwent my first OHS at 4 months old to patch a ventricular septal defect and pulmonary stenosis. Aside from yearly cardiologist visits and an advisory against playing team sports, I rarely thought about my heart or scar growing up.
Now, after 23 years (and two years of grad school, a black belt, multiple cross-country road trips, residence in China and 5 American states, surrounded by beautiful, supportive, people and communities) my increasingly insufficient pulmonary valve has caught up with me.
