About Me (In My Own Words)
I went into surgery on March 15th 2019 and the surgery was completed in roughly 4 hours, I was under anesthesia so felt nothing and was unaware of anything. I woke up in my hospital room. I experienced little pain after the surgery, but did have some days of anxiety on the second day, I laterally thought I was about to die. The attending nurse tried to assure me I was doing just fine. By the next day I was out of that anxiety. I spent a total of 5 days in the Hospital and had almost no pain. I spent another couple of weeks with home nursing and physical therapy. My surgical wounds have healed nicely and I continue to get stronger every day. I do a lot of walking during the day but have some bad days where I get tired easily and other days where I seem to be able to go on endlessly. On the second day of recovery I actually went completely flatline for a count of 16 heart beats. This set off an alarm and 3 nurses rushed to my room but my heart had recovered a weak beat and soon back to normal again. I have experienced this same flatline situation many times at home and did not completely pass out. The result was to have a pacemaker installed to keep my heart beating at around 60 beets per minute. I am actually doing great and have had not other heart stoppage situations since leaving the hospital.
