About Me (In My Own Words)
I had my first echo after my physician heard a murmur about six years ago (age 49). The echo showed moderate Mitral Valve regurgitation. I was told to have an echo once a year. In April my MMHG of 88 reading was off the charts, indicating severe aortic stenosis but the aorta only showed moderate stenosis (that was the first I heard about an aortic problem too!). They ordered a transesophegeal echocardiogram and discovered that I have a severe blockage from a sub-aortic membrane. I need to have that resected and most likely an aortic valve replacement from the damage at the same time. There is a possibility they will be able to repair the aorta according to my cardiologist but I have to meet with the surgeon next week to know more. I am booked for open heart surgery on September 8/2017.
